Do Geun Gi

도근기(Do Geun Gi)작가는 현대 사회에서 나타나는 다양한 사회적 문제들을 친근한 동물 이미지를 통해 환기시키고 질문을 던지는 작업을 하는 조각가입니다. 그는 현대인들이 무뎌진 사회적 문제를 보다 쉽게 받아들일 수 있도록, 불편한 주제를 친근한 조형언어로 풀어내어 새로운 자극과 반성을 유도합니다.

이번 전시에서 선보이는 ‘시그널 시리즈(who are you?)’는 극지방의 동물과 봄을 상징하는 나비의 만남을 통해 기후변화의 심각성을 상기시키는 작품입니다. 동물의 형상을 추상적으로 표현하며, 카멜레온 도료를 사용해 변화하는 환경에 대한 적응을 묘사합니다.

작품 판매 수익의 일부는 그린피스에 기부되며, 작가와 구매자가 함께 기후위기 극복에 동참하는 의미를 담고 있습니다.

Do Geun Gi is a sculptor who addresses various social issues in modern society by using friendly animal imagery to provoke thought and awareness. He aims to help people recognize and reflect on these often-overlooked issues by presenting them in a more approachable, visual language.

In his latest exhibition, the "Signal Series (Who Are You?)" highlights the seriousness of climate change through the juxtaposition of polar animals and butterflies, symbols of spring. Abstract representations and chameleon paint depict the animals' adaptation to changing environments.

A portion of the sales proceeds is donated to Greenpeace, allowing both the artist and buyers to contribute to the fight against climate change.
