고현주(Go Hyun Ju)작가는 '고등오의 정원'이라는 활동명으로 작업을 이어가고 있는 아티스트입니다.

작가는 미술고등학교를 졸업하고 섬유디자인을 전공하며 직장 생활과 프리랜서 디자이너로 활동하던 중, 그림으로 소통하고자 하는 갈망이 커져 미술씬에 다시 복귀했습니다. '고등오의 정원'이라는 이름은 그녀의 삶의 전환점에서 비롯된 것으로, 그 시기에 자신과 닮은 ‘양' 캐릭터인 ‘Joy’를 창조해 그림을 그리기 시작했습니다.

고현주 작가의 작품은 평범한 일상 속에서 발견한 묵상의 경험을 담고 있으며, 모든 작품에는 ‘그럼에도 불구하고’라는 주제가 내재되어 있습니다. 그녀는 어둠 속의 빛, 두려움 속의 용기, 보이지 않는 시선을 진중하지만 유쾌한 색채로 표현하며, 진실된 생각을 다양한 기법과 재료로 담아냅니다.

Her work emerged from a turning point in her life, where she created the character "Joy," a sheep-like figure resembling herself, as a medium for her art.
